What Worry-Free Services is
Worry-Free is Trend Micro's security range for small and medium-sized organisations. Many people still search for Worry-Free Business Security, the older name for the range; Trend Micro's current small business page lists Worry-Free Services and three higher editions. In some places it is now shown with Trend Micro's TrendAI brand.
Worry-Free Services is delivered as software as a service: a lightweight agent on each device and a web console, with no management server to install or patch. Updates are automatic, which suits organisations without a dedicated security team.
On Trend Micro's description, Worry-Free Services provides:
- Endpoint and mobile protection using machine learning and behaviour checks
- Vulnerability protection and a firewall
- URL reputation and web category filtering
- Device control and application control
- Data loss prevention and disk encryption
That puts it among the more complete small business suites. For a criteria-based comparison with other products, see antivirus for small business.
The four Worry-Free editions compared
Each edition includes everything in the one before it:
| Capability | Worry-Free Services | Services Advanced | Worry-Free XDR | Co-Managed XDR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Endpoint, mobile and web protection | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Data loss prevention, device control, disk encryption | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Email security for Microsoft 365, Exchange and other mail services | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Collaboration protection, including Microsoft 365, Box and Dropbox | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Detection, sweeping and root cause analysis across email and endpoints, with cloud sandboxing | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Round-the-clock monitoring and investigation by Trend Micro analysts | No | No | No | Yes |
Services Advanced adds Trend Micro Email Security Standard and Cloud App Security. Worry-Free XDR combines Worry-Free Services with Email Security Advanced, Cloud App Security Advanced, the Endpoint Sensor and cloud sandboxing, so a threat can be traced from the inbox to the device it reached. Worry-Free with Co-Managed XDR Services adds Trend Micro's managed detection and response on top.

What devices Worry-Free protects
The device types Trend Micro lists for Worry-Free Services include:
- Windows desktops and laptops
- Windows servers
- Macs; see antivirus for Macs in business
- iOS and Android phones and tablets; see mobile antivirus for business
Linux is not among Worry-Free's listed device types. If you run Linux servers, look at Trend Micro Endpoint Security (Vision One), which covers Windows, macOS and Linux, or the other options on our Linux antivirus page.
Because Worry-Free is licensed per user, the protected devices a person uses fall under their licence rather than being counted one by one. Trend Micro sets how many devices each user licence covers, so we confirm the allowance against Trend Micro's current terms when we quote, and check how servers and shared devices are counted for your estate.
Co-Managed XDR: Trend Micro's analysts, arranged through us
Worry-Free with Co-Managed XDR Services is available only through managed service providers such as us, not direct. It includes everything in Worry-Free XDR, plus Trend Micro's own threat experts who monitor around the clock, investigate incidents and recommend or (if you authorise it) take response actions, with a monthly summary report.
The monitoring is Trend Micro's service, run by Trend Micro's analysts. We arrange it, and we can help you act on their recommendations; the exact split of responsibilities is set out at quote. It suits organisations whose insurer or customers expect detection and response but who have nobody to watch alerts out of hours.
For a broader look at managed options across vendors, see managed antivirus and our EDR, XDR and MDR guidance.
Is Trend Micro Worry-Free Services the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
How Worry-Free is licensed and billed
Every Worry-Free edition is licensed per user. The licence covers the protected devices that person uses and, on the email editions, their mailbox.
Through Forever Systems, Trend Micro is billed monthly in arrears for what you actually used in the month, measured the way Trend Micro measures it. You can add users or move up an edition, and the change shows on the next bill. Pricing depends on edition and user count, so ask us for a quote. Our licensing site covers Trend Micro Worry-Free licensing in more detail, and our guide to business antivirus cost compares per-user and per-device models.
Per-user licensing tends to suit offices where each person has several devices. For shared devices, such as classroom PCs or warehouse terminals, per-device products can work out simpler; see antivirus for schools.
Choosing a Worry-Free edition
We do not push a particular edition, but these rules of thumb help:
- Worry-Free Services suits a small office whose email is already well protected and who mainly need their laptops, PCs, phones and servers covered from one console.
- Services Advanced is worth a look if you use Microsoft 365 and want stronger email filtering and protection for files shared through cloud apps, on the same per-user licence.
- Worry-Free XDR suits organisations that want to trace an attack from the email that delivered it to the device it reached, and have someone who will look at those investigations.
- Co-Managed XDR suits organisations that need detection and response but have no one to watch alerts, and are content for Trend Micro's analysts to do it.
Trend Micro builds each edition on Worry-Free Services, so moving up later adds capabilities rather than replacing your endpoint protection; we confirm what changes on your devices when we quote. If you are comparing Worry-Free with other small business products, our GravityZone Small Business Security and Webroot pages cover two other common options, and the vendors page compares everything we supply.
Growing out of Worry-Free
Trend Micro's small business page says Worry-Free customers can update their Worry-Free console to the Trend Vision One for Small Business platform, and add solutions such as cyber risk exposure management. You do not have to start again with new agents to get more capability.
You might make that move if you need:
- Linux or dedicated server protection such as virtual patching and integrity monitoring (the Pro tier of Trend Micro Endpoint Security)
- A wider choice of Vision One solutions beyond the Worry-Free bundles
- Per-endpoint licensing for an estate with many shared devices
If you already run Worry-Free with another provider, we can usually take over the account. Contact us with your user count and current edition, and ask us for a quote.
How Forever Systems helps with endpoint protection
We are an independent UK IT and cyber security provider. We supply business antivirus and endpoint protection from several vendors, so we can recommend what fits your devices, your team and your budget rather than pushing one product.
- Review what you have: we look at your current antivirus, your Microsoft licences and the devices you need to cover before suggesting anything new
- Compare the options: next-generation antivirus, EDR and managed services from vendors including CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, ThreatDown, Bitdefender, Trend Micro, Sophos, Check Point, WatchGuard and Acronis
- Licensing and quotes: the right edition and licence count for your Windows, Mac, Linux, server and mobile devices, with pricing confirmed at quote
- Deployment and migration: we can help roll out agents, set policies and remove the old product cleanly
- Support after go-live: help with policy tuning, alerts and renewals, with the scope agreed at quote
We can also help with the rest of your security, from endpoint security and EDR to Cyber Essentials and security awareness training.
